Our Thematic Areas
Women empowerment is one of the major thematic areas of JMBS. We aim to enhance the rights, opportunities and influence of women in various spheres of life socially, economically and politically. We are working to create a supportive environment for women to pursue their dreams, assert their rights and participate actively in social, economic and political activities to emerge as an influential leader. Women’s rights, Leadership development,gender-based violence, entrepreneurship skills, participation at community, province and federal level, legal awareness etc. are some of the issues that we consider as major challenges that need to be addressed. We are working with local women, youths, adolescents and women leaders to ensure that women’s rights are protected, promoted and practiced at all levels..
JMBS believes that promoting environmental awareness is crucial for fostering a sustainable workplace. Implementing eco-friendly practices, encouraging waste reduction, and educating community on the importance of conservation can contribute to a positive environmental impact. We are working towards making people understand the crucial interdependence between human activities and environment. Excessive use of recyclable and non-recyclable plastics, management of household garbage, climate change, resource depletion, biodiversity loss etc. are some of the issues that we consider need to be addressed. We are working with Lalitpur metropolitan city, ward offices, women groups and other like-minded organizations as collaborative partners to promote the quality of environment and raise the level of understanding among people.
Health is another major thematic area of Jagaruk Mahila Bikash Samuha. The health promotion
initiatives of JMBS are mainly focused on improving various aspects of physical, mental as well as psychosocial wellbeing. Our programs mainly aim to increase understanding of preventive measures, healthy lifestyle choices, importance of early detection and treatment. We have been organizing health camps, counseling and referral services, awareness classes, free medicine distribution etc. mainly focusing on Reproductive health of women and adolescent girls. For this purpose we are partnering with Local Governments, insurance agencies and banks, I/NGOs, doctor groups as well as individual donors.
Education is foundation for development and change. JMBS believes that education and awareness can ensure protection, promotion and practice of ones rights as enshrined by our constitution. At school level, our education campaigns are mainly focused on adolescent girls and boys regarding reproductive health and hygiene, participation, use of social media and risks associated with it etc. We are also working with school teachers and parents regarding mental and psychosocial health of children.
