Health is another major thematic area of Jagaruk Mahila Bikash Samuha. The health promotion initiatives of JMBS are mainly focused on improving various aspects of physical, mental as well as psychosocial wellbeing. Our programs mainly aim to increase understanding of preventive measures, healthy lifestyle choices, importance of early detection and treatment. We have been organizing health camps, counseling and referral services, awareness classes, free medicine distribution etc. mainly focusing on Reproductive health of women and adolescent girls. For this purpose we are partnering with Local Governments, insurance agencies and banks, I/NGOs, doctor groups as well as individual donors.
Reproductive Health Initiatives
JMBS organized 7 free reproductive health camps and two awareness raising orientations for women belonging to poor and deprived community and senior citizens at Balkhu, Chabahil,KTM and Tangal, Jharuwarasi, Tikathali, Lubhu Lalitpur. The programs were organized aiming to increase awareness on reproductive health and reproductive rights and find out reproductive health problem in time. More than 350 women benefited from these health camps where they participated in cervical cancer screening through VIA testing and breast examination for cancer screening. The complicated cases were referred to NCHSRC for further investigation and treatment. Besides, 75 women were informed about reproductive health issues of women including cervical cancer and breast cancer. The health programs were conducted with technical support of National Cancer Hospital and Research Center, Jawalakhel and Nahuda organization. These Financial supports were provided by NRN - UK, Mahalaxmi Municipality, Prabhu Insurance, Beyond Boarder etc.
